WorthyJourney Life should be a worthy journey.

A scary little friend out back

The picture of the day is going to be a little brown spider that thanks to a flash and macro lens looks much bigger than he or she really was. The body of spider was actually about the size of a nickel and with her legs fully extended she was close to a silver dollar in size. She couldn't hang out where she was or I would have hit her later that night when the dogs and I went out. But while she was there she made a pretty cool picture. (Picture taken a couple of weeks back)

The dying days of a shroom

This mushroom has definitely seen better days, as I was walking around in my front yard I noticed this little guy still hanging on. It was just a couple of days ago I saw him in his prime all flat on top and now like so many of us, he's drooping a bit more than he used to. Here's to the shroom, If he can hold on and make it surely we can. He's lucky no one in my household knows if he's edible or not.

Friday night bites

I am going to begin photoblogging and have decided to use my worthyjourney site. We'll see how easy it is and I'll get back to you on that one later.

Here's a picture of Fridays dinner guest, turns out I now prefer my steak at least medium-well rather than chard-to-a-crisp as I typically had in the past. This was one tender steak.

Back from our Vacation

Well the vacation was wonderful, as hopefully most are. I was concerned about the weight I might gain, but unfortunately the food seems to be one area the cruises have cut back on.  Or I may have just gotten used to food being prepared well, which is a possibility here in the DFW area.  The food on the cruise wasn't bad per se, but I only gained 2 lbs. from the week long adventure, so I guess it was a good thing.

A beach on Roatan Island Honduras

Here's a teaser photo from the trip.

I really enjoyed the time I spent with my wife, and got some fun photos along the way.   I also learned to play gin rummy, at first I must have been doing something wrong, because I lost almost every game. I suppose always waiting for that perfect card to complete my hand was a bad strategy.  By the end of the week we were pretty evenly matched, and it's now a card game I actually like to play.  Historically I am more of a domino fellow, say 42 and my ears perk right up. I'm not great at 42, I'll try and keep up with you if your really good, and I just don't play enough now to get great.  But as far as cards go spades was really the only card game I was pretty good at, and liked.  Check back and I will post the rules of a odd Turkish game we learned from a waiter on board I call "Turkish 52", no it's not 52 card pickup.

So it's time to continue my journey toward a better more healthy weight, from the vacation I really walked my feet off so I want to find a way to continue that.  Improving my choices on my quantity I believe is another huge step, but keeping it present in my thoughts will also help.  There's another point of my life I want to try and tie to my weight journey and that is my prayer life.  I'm beginning to look for inspiration in the scripture along these lines so if you have anything, post it in the comments.  The fact my body is a temple is a given, I'm just starting renovations. ;)

I really liked the way this duck looks so smooth and still while he is on the pond. But by the way he was moving right before I shot the picture he must really be at it under the surface. I read that somewhere once and thought this was a good visual of it. Plus I enjoyed the color and crispness of the image.

I really have taken to the idea of a hobby that I can share with my wife.  Suzanne has a really good eye for framing and later cropping photos on our Mac and really seems to share my enjoyment of taking photos.  We are going on our vacation later in the month and I expect we will have plenty to play with after that as well.  So without further adieu here is the first batch...
